First Look: The 2020 Ford Explorer and Ford Explorer Hybrid

January is always a fun month for us at Woodhouse Ford of Omaha as it is the start of Auto Show season. The Detroit Auto Show recently kicked off and brands are already unveiling exciting and innovative vehicles. We are particularly excited about the 2020 Ford Explorer. The Ford brand released a few details ahead of the show, but now we know that a Ford Hybrid will be joining the fleet! There are numerous changes to this customer favorite and we can’t wait until we’re able to get behind the wheel.

The Ford Explorer builds on years of innovation and is an excellent option for busy families that need a large, capable, and comfortable SUV. Drivers have the choice of two powerful and efficient engines — either a 2.3-liter I4 Ecoboost® or a 3.0-liter V6 Ecoboost. With the V6 engine, you’ll get an impressive 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. If you add on the towing package, the Ford Explorer has 5,600 pound max towing allowing you to easily bring along your favorite toys. With a standard 10-speed automatic transmission, you’ll see fuel savings without sacrificing performance.

The interior also sees an update. You’ll find plenty of tech and comfort. An optional 10.1-inch touch screen infotainment system lets you completely control your driving experience. With the Sync®3 system and standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi, you can always stay connected and entertained.

The Ford Explorer also sees the addition of a hybrid version. The hybrid system is coupled with a 3.3-liter V6 engine that produces 318 horsepower and can go for 500 miles on a tank of fuel. The battery is below the passenger compartment so you won’t see a deduction in cargo space.
