2020 Ford Explorer Details

Power and Performance

The 2020 Ford Explorer comes standard with a 300-horsepower, 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine that can provide up to 310 pound-feet of torque. If you're looking for more power - or you'll need to do some towing or hauling - you can go with the 365-horsepower 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 380 pound-feet of torque. Both engines, by the way, have more horsepower and torque than the base 2019 Ford F-150. There is also a hybrid model that has a 3.3-liter V6 engine that works with an electric motor. All engines are paired with a 10 speed automatic transmission. In the base trim, you have the choice of either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, but AWD is standard in both the ST and Platinum trims. If you perhaps plan to explore some of the unpaved parts of Lincoln, NE you'll probably want the available Terrain Management System. With this, you will have control over things like transmission shifting and suspension.

        Model Specs:

  • Engine: 2.3L, 3.0L EcoBoost®, 3.3L V6 Hybrid
  • Power: up to 400 HP, 415 lb-ft torque
  • Transmission: 10-speed auto

Interior

Big and roomy, the 2020 Ford Explorer seats six people with second-row captain's chairs or seven people with a bench. If you're looking for some luxury, the Platinum trim comes with leather upholstery. Standard tech features include an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay™, and Amazon Alexa™ integration, and 4G Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices.

Safety

Many 2019 Ford models are known for their safety features, and the same is true for their 2020 models. The brand-new 2020 Ford Explorer comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360® system which has many advanced safety systems. These include dynamic brake support, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning.

        Standard Safety Features:
